And if you are among the people who have chronic body pain (I really hope that you are not), here’s your chance to experience and know about something similar… Tai Chi!…. and how the Tai Chi massage therapist can help relieve your pain and energize your body.

Definition of chi: ” vital energy that is held to animate the body internally and is of central importance in some Eastern systems of medical treatment (such as acupuncture) and of exercise or self-defense (such as tai chi)”
Definition of Chi by Merriam-Websterhttps://www.merriam-webster.com

The original meaning of Tai Chi came from the Chinese word Tàijí and is based on the concept of Yin and Yang for defense training, meditation, and for health.

What Is Tai Chi?

Why did I say Tai Chi is similar to Kung Fu or Karate? Because Tai Chi is a kind of dance with nature and energy, and so is Kung Fu or Karate in my opinion.

Tai Chi is slow, relaxing, dance-like movements for flexibility, posture and balance. It trains the mind and body to move with flexibility attuned to the energy of the earth and universe loosening the joints and ligaments and muscles, relaxing, energizing, bringing peace, improving the mood. You can imagine yourself as a warrior doing this relaxing exercise right before or after a great fight.

If you are in pain or struggle with being able to do traditional exercise, I want you to see and explore the non-invasive side of Tai Chi more closely to help you be able to exercise daily and move your body gently to ease your pain, increase your strength, balance and flexibility.

So, now let’s explain Tai Chi massage…

Why Tai Chi Massage?

Not to be confused with Thai massage or Tao Chi massage. They can be similar but are not the same.

A Tai Chi massage therapist needs to be a practitioner of Tai Chi themselves to know how to use this form of massage to help you best.

The Chi, or internal energy of the therapist connected to the energy of the universe and to your energy, will help increase your stamina and decrease the stress by synchronizing the movements of your body parts with each other. It increases body awareness. You learn more about your body, spirit, and mind which in turn can be healing to the body.

Mind-blowing, right? In fact, it sounds mystical, but energy has a great power over our minds and our bodies.

4 out of 5 adults experience some back pain in their lifetime. And what makes this fact so scary? Because back pain is the primary cause of disabilities worldwide. So I was hoping you could take that 20% chance and become the lucky one who never gets to experience back pain ever.

That’s where Tai Chi comes in like an uninvited guest and proves to be a blessing in disguise. Experience the divine feeling of what I am about to say now.

A Tai Chi massage therapist will rock the different parts of your body, and sometimes your whole body. Loosening everything up. Over the time muscles can become attached to the bone, and in Tai Chi massage, the gentle rhythmical swinging movements help to not only relax the muscle but release it from the bone.

Tai Chi massage in conjunction with Tai Chi exercise is the perfect combination for keeping the body and mind younger. It is especially beneficial for those who can no longer exercise traditionally very well.

Tai Chi Bang Baton Self Massage

Tai Chi self massage is a beautiful way to achieve two things at once, exercise and massage. Watch Master Jesse Tsao, PhD. illustrate and then teach Tai Chi self massage with a Tai Chi bang baton. I love how he does this! It’s a true form of art, and he does it along with the music like a dance. I encourage you after watching this video, to go outside in comfortable clothing and watch it again moving along with him. Even if you don’t have a stick or baton yet, you can use a piece of broom stick or even a feather duster stick for the massage, even a ruler or one of those shower back brushes could work. The important thing is to move and enjoy a self massage in a beautiful way.

If you are sensitive to undressing for a massage, Tai Chi as well as a similar therapy, Tao Chi massage, can be done fully dressed as well as Thai massage.

How Exactly Is Tai Chi Massage Or Tai Chi Therapy Done?

Watch the Tai Chi Massage demonstration videos below to get the best idea. Some forms are done with fully dressed, and others without clothing, like a regular massage. Don’t feel alarmed when your therapist starts to rock you from side to side and push on you or hit you light with their hand cupped because that’s what Tai Chi massage is about. In some rare cases they may also even pick you up and toss you over their shoulder and bounce you. It’s true! (Or maybe that just Tao Chi massage that does that 🙂

Tai Chi massage can also include acupressure, hand cupping (as mentioned), stroking and kneading you like dough if required.  More time may be spent on your stomach and chest than most other forms of massage.

It takes time, but this therapy works. Just make sure that you visit a licensed massage therapist who is certified in Tai Chi (or at least practices Tai Chi) if you want the greatest benefit.

And the title of my article isn’t a hoax, mind you. It has been well-thought and carefully constructed. If you are in any kind of pain, you are no less than the bravest of warriors.

Gathering the strength to fight it isn’t easy and that’s exactly what I want you to do with the help of Tai Chi massage and Tai Chi. Combat the pain, get stronger, ward off the discomfort and loosen your muscles like a real warrior.
